Samantha is scheduled for open heart surgery tomorrow. Today we are scheduled for several tests and a couple consultations. We were scheduled for a sedated MRI at 8:30 followed by an echo while in recovery, however a cardiologist is supposed to attend the MRI and that wasn't lined up ahead of time so we have to wait til12:30 for one to be available. We were able to get her blood drawn and IV placed but now all we can do is wait.
Samantha is generally a pretty easy going baby and she has done pretty well considering she hasn't had real food (I.e. formula) since 2am. She did get Pedialyte at 6am and again at 10 am once they figured out we would have to wait til 12:30 for an MRI. Of course she has been fussy but most of the time she has slept for us.
A few minutes ago an NP from cardiothorasic surgery came by to do our pre op history and physical and to give us some instructions, so we are done with that. Now she just needs her MRI, echo, appointment with the cardiologist, chest x-ray, and a stop back by registration to get her name band (that they somehow neglected to give us when we went there earlier) and by the pharmacy. Looks like we'll be here for awhile.
