Alma 32:21
"And now as I said concerning faith—afaith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye bhope for things which are cnot seen, which are true." Look here for the scripture in context.
This is the scripture that taught me that faith is a type of hope. But different than most hope, it is in something that is true. That is why you can have faith in it. You can count on it. Because it is true. For example, having faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement allows us to hope to gain eternal lives through that atonement. Faith is the foundation of everything. With faith, we can do all the is required, without faith, we can do nothing.
